Easy Homemade Bolognese Sauce

Everyone needs a good bolognese sauce recipe and this one is a family favorite I have been making for years. It is deliciously robust and super easy to make. Not only is it perfect for topping spaghetti, but it also makes a hearty meal when served over roasted vegetables! Make a big enough batch to store portions in the freezer and you can enjoy it any night of the week!

Instructions

  1. 01

Heat large pot over medium-high heat. Add the oil and saute onions, carrots, and salt and cook about 2 minutes.

  2. 02

Add garlic and cook for about 1 minute.

  3. 03

Add the tomato paste and stir and cook for another minute.

  4. 04

Add ground beef and mix with all the ingredients in the pot; cook through.

  5. 05

Add pasta sauce to the pot and mix well.

  6. 06

Once sauce starts to bubble, reduce heat to low and simmer for about 1 hour, lid slightly ajar.

  7. 07

Season with salt and pepper to taste, if necessary.
