Terms of Service
Effective May 9, 2026
Welcome to iCook.ing. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use iCook. Our Privacy Policy is part of these terms.
1. The service
iCook is a personal recipe library. You can paste or search for recipe URLs, save structured ingredients and instructions to your account, organize them into folders and weekly meal plans, scale servings, generate shopping lists, and export single-page PDFs.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- Provide accurate info and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Don’t share your account or create accounts on behalf of others without their consent.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use iCook for anything illegal, abusive, infringing, or deceptive.
- Attempt to break, overload, or probe the service (scraping our API at high volume, attempts to bypass authentication, etc.).
- Import content that violates intellectual property rights, privacy, or other laws.
- Use the “Search the web” feature to systematically harvest content from third-party sites.
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit the service or its output without our written permission.
4. Recipes & third-party content
When you import a recipe, iCook fetches the page and stores its structured content (ingredients, steps, photo) on your account. The underlying recipe and photo remain the property of the original publisher. iCook does not own, license, or warrant third-party recipe content. You agree to use imported recipes for personal, non-commercial use and to respect each source site’s terms.
Imported recipes may appear as cards in our public Discover gallery (title, source site, photo) so other users can find them and link back to the original. We honor good-faith DMCA-style removal requests: email hello@icook.ing with the URL and a description of the issue.
5. Your content
You retain all rights in the notes, edits, and personal organization you add (folder names, plans, custom edits). By using iCook you grant us a limited license to store and process that content solely to provide the service to you.
6. Free service, no warranty
iCook is provided free of charge and “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don’t guarantee that the service will always be available, error-free, or that imported recipes will be complete, accurate, or safe to follow. Cook with common sense, and check allergens and cooking times against the original source.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, iCook and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or revenue arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed USD $100 or the amount you’ve paid us in the prior 12 months (whichever is greater).
8. Termination
You can delete your account any time by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that pose a security/abuse risk. On termination, we will delete your data within a reasonable window unless we’re required to retain it.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we’ll post the new effective date at the top and, where significant, send an in-app notice. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the changes.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the state or country where iCook is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
